چکیده

Brain metastasis from non muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder occurs very rarely. Herein, a patient who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor and received intravesical bacillus CalmetteGuérin for pT1, G3 bladder carcinoma accompanied by carcinoma in situ, and who subsequently developed solitary cerebellar metastasis following 18 months cystoscopic follow-up period with normal findings was reported. To our knowledge, only two cases of solitary cerebellar metastasis from pT1 bladder cancer was reported in the English literature.

A rare and unusual case of isolated cerebellar metastasis from a non-muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma of bladder

Cerebellar metastases from superficial bladder cancer are extremely rare. Bladder cancer is the second most common cancer of the urinary tract. It is the fourth most common cancer in men and eight most common in women in Europe where its incidence is estimated at 104,000 in 2006. Seventy percent of bladder cancer is confined to the mucosa (Ta, CIS-T1), but 30% is invasive. The most common solid...

High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of Bladder Transforming to Micropapillary Variant on Follow-Up

Micropapillary variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is an aggressive tumour, comprising 0.6-6% of all UC. It generally presents with high-grade and stage, and has been reported as having a worse prognosis when compared to traditional UC. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with macroscopic haematuria. The patient was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial carcinom...

E-Cadherin in Relation with the Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen of the Bilharzia Associ-ated and Non-Associated Urinary Bladder Carcinoma

Background: E-cadherin is a trans-membrane glycoprotein that plays a critical role in many aspects of cell adhesion as well as establishment and maintenance of epithelial cell polarity. Loss of the adhesive function of E-cadherin seems to promote invasive and metastatic properties of neoplastic cells. Objectives: The present study is a retrospective study aiming to evaluate the loss of E-cadher...

Long-term results of selective partial cystectomy for invasive urothelial bladder carcinoma.

OBJECTIVES We reviewed our experience with partial cystectomy to assess local control and survival rates, and to identify pathologic predictors for recurrence. METHODS From 1995 to 2005, 25 patients with urothelial carcinoma underwent partial cystectomy with curative intent. As protocol, patients with primary solitary muscle-invasive bladder tumors underwent preoperative localized radiotherap...

Lymph node density in muscle-invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder; De novo versus progressive disease

OBJECTIVE The prognosis of bladder cancer patients with positive lymph node (LN) disease is affected by both the extent of lymphadenectomy and LN density retrieved during radical cystectomy. This study aimed at assessing the differences in LN metastasis between patients who presented primarily with muscle-invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder "de novo disease" versus "progressive ...
